Donovan McNabb’s Kids Football Clinic a Big Hit!
Over 300 kids from the greater Philadelphia area participated in Donovan’s annual clinic which this year was held at Memorial Sports Complex in Marlton, NJ. The star-studded line up of participating talent featured past and present Eagles as well as Redskins and players from around the league. Said Redskins, Clinton Portis on attending the clinic, “You’re talking about a guy who just got traded away from here coming back and continuing something he had goin’ on, in the midst of us going to OTAs and mini-camp. Anytime you see a guy the caliber of Donovan McNabb giving back, to be a part of that is a no-brainer.”
All the guys gave back – and in a big way! With temperatures in the high 80s, they coached boys & girls aged 11-16 on the fundamentals of football with nary a complaint. Post-clinic, they hosted an Awards Celebration and pizza party.
Thanks to all the talent, volunteers and sponsors that helped make the event a success including Virtua Hospital, NASA, Evesham Township, Mayor Randy Brown, Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles, Northern Trust Bank, EA Sports, Modell’s, Powerade and Coca-Cola, Jay Roberts Jewelers, 97.5 The Fanatic, Philadelphia Inquirer, USA Football, US Army, Papa John’s, Chick-fil-a Marlton, Aloft Mt. Laurel, Marriott Downtown Philadelphia, Philadelphia Regional Produce Market, the coaches from Cherokee High School, Camden Catholic and Marlton Rec League and to all the Temple University and NFL players.
Donovan McNabb hosted the clinic as a part of his efforts with the Donovan McNabb Fund which champions several worthy children’s causes; supports the efforts of the American Diabetes Association; and partners with Virtua Foundation to help fund The McNabb Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Virtua Voorhees Hospital, scheduled to open in Spring 2011.
